Summary

Description
English: Radiative heat transfer between two spheres computed using three numerical approaches. The spheres are identical, composed of silicon dioxide, and separated by a 15 μm surface-to-surface gap. The change in heat transfer is shown as the size of the spheres varies. The red, dashed line is the result of calculations using a classical radiative transfer (CRT) approach. The green, solid line is the result of calculations using a discrete dipole approximation (DDA). The gray, square markers are the result of calculations using a numerically exact near-field radiative heat transfer (NFRHT) calculation.
