HEADING: El-Gamasy awarded a Somali Medal. A military delegation led by the Minister of War of Egypt, Major General Mohamed Abdel Ghani El Gamasy, completed a four-day visit on August 8. The purpose of the seven-member delegation’s visit was to promote cooperation between Somalia and Egypt, especially in the military. The delegation was warmly welcomed when they arrived by the Vice President of Democratic Republic of Somalia, Major General Mohamed Ali Samatar, Deputy Defense Minister Major General Omar Haji Mohamed, officials from the Egyptian War Ministry and the Egyptian Ambassador to Somalia. General Secretary of XHKS Comrade Mohamed Siad Barre presented a Somali medal to the Minister of War of Egypt, Lieutenant General El Gamasy, which shows the brotherly relationship between Somalia and Egypt. The rest of the delegation was also presented with an award. The ceremony was held with an invitation to the Egyptian Minister of War at the Presidential Center. Also attended by the invitation of the Vice President and the Minister of Defence, Major General Mohamed Ali Samatar and other officials of the Ministry of Defence of Somalia. During their stay in Somalia, General El Gamasy and his delegation held discussions with the leaders of Somalia and discussed strengthening the relationship between the armed forces of the two countries. |
