SVG implementation based on the flags of Livro das Fortalezas (1509-1510) and Portuguese Carracks off a Rocky Coast (c. 1540)

De acordo com Olímpio de Melo, D. João II (1481-1495) "reduziu a sete os doze castelos da bordadura, cujo número era alterado frequentemente a capricho dos debuxadores." (p. 29) e durante o reinado de D. Sebastião (1557-1578) "O número de castelos e de besantes, desde algum tempo variáveis, foi fixado em sete e cinco respectivamente."[1]
