| Description |
English: This image shows the northern elevation (lower photograph) and the southern elevation (upper photograph) of the Southgate-Lewis House. These photographs were taken circa 1980, shortly after the historic restoration and preservation – almost one century after the house was constructed. As can be seen, there is a strong vertical emphasis associated the two story house and the steeply pitched gables. There is an extended overhang at both ends and each end has a pair of diagonal brackets as well as visible structural extensions beyond the wall ("outriggers"). Note that the exposed rafter ends can also be clearly seen in the northern elevation. The southern elevation has a window at the apex of the gable. Like the other windows of the Southgate-Lewis house, this small decorative window also has the characteristic external window casement moulding (noteworthy external window encasement moulding) of the Southgate-Lewis House. |
