DescriptionN Cap Street wall N of main gate - Prospect Hill Cemetery - 2014.jpg
English: North Capitol Street wall north of the main gate at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Washington, D.C., in the United States in 2014.
Prospect Hill Cemetery was added to the Register of Historic Places of the District of Columbia (a listing of historic sites maintained by the city) in 2005.
North Capitol Street was cut through the western portion of the cemetery in 1897. This required construction of a retaining wall along the street. The wall, which varies in height from two feet near the entrance to almost 15 feet elsewhere, consists of variously colored rusticated granite. It was constructed and paid for by the city, using federal funds.
