Summary

Description
English: Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge The bridge coming in to land on the north shore. There appear to have been no more than 20 such bridges in the world at any time, generally at the lowest crossing point of a river, and the number of operational bridges today is probably no more than 10. Only two working transporter bridges survive in Britain - this one built in 1911, and the recently restored transporter in Newport, Gwent.
