Description

General Donovan – Director of the Office of Strategic Services – was the most highly decorated officer of World War I. He was awarded the medal for action in France in 1918. Donovan led his men to take the German position. He was eventually wounded in the leg, but refused to be evacuated from the battlefield until his men and the position were secure.
