Español: Retrato del diplomático español José Curtoys de Anduaga († 1891), que fue hermano del pintor Joaquín Curtoys de Anduaga. José Curtoys trabajó con su hermano en diversas legaciones, y en la de Estocolmo ostentó el rango de ministro plenipotenciario. Debido a su conocimiento de varios idiomas, tradujo del alemán al español el Don Carlos de Schiller, y el retratado aparece luciendo la Legión de Honor y la gran cruz y la banda de la Orden de Isabel la Católica.
