Title
Equestrian portrait of Dirck Decker of Amsterdam, great grand-father of the founder of the Fitzwilliam Museum. Father of Sir Matthew Decker, 1st Baronet, of Richmond, Surrey, grandfather of Richard FitzWilliam, 7th Viscount FitzWilliam (1745-1816) of Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland, who inherited the Decker mansion and art collection at Richmond, but died without legitimate issue; by his will he founded the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, home of this work. Grote Kerk, Haarlem in the background.
