Summary

Description
English: Hittite lute from Alacahöyük 1399–1301 B.C.E. Bands of green show frets. Tassels (blue) are from the cords wrapped around the neck that the lute's strings anchor to at the top of the neck, one anchor for each lute string. Frets in body may not be frets but loops in leather soundboard, to let stick pass through.
