| Description | Les Chiens des Fuégiens rapportés de la Terre de Feu par le docteur Hyades (Mission de la Romanche). "Impresionado por el interés que suscitaba la observación de estos animales, el doctor Hyades, médico de primera clase de la marina, encargado de dirigir los estudios de la misión científica francesa enviada al Cabo de Hornos (la expedición Romanche), no sólo se esforzó por observarlos sobre el terreno, sino que resolvió llevar a Francia algunos representantes. A instancias suyas, la misión, durante su estancia en Bahía Orange, adquirió una perra (Katekita) en enero de 1883 y un perro (Tapan) en febrero; ambos fueron comprados poco después de su nacimiento; es a partir de estos dos animales, ya bien desarrollados, que podemos trazar definitivamente las características zoológicas del perro fueguino." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
