Español: Las figuras muestran mapas de conectividad debida a los campos de viento sobre los océanos del Hemisferio Sur. La conectividad controla la dispersión de semillas, polen, etc. y explica buena parte de los patrones espacio-temporales de la colonización de islas y la similitud de fauna y flora en lugares muy distantes geográficamente. Los datos originales provienen del satélite QuikSCAT (NASA) y fueron procesados en el Grupo Kraken de la Universidad de Extremadura mediante algoritmos que tienen en cuenta el acimut del viento y la incertidumbre angular de las medidas. Puede verse que los patrones de dispersión cambian estacionalmente. |
