Deutsch: Charlotte von Kalb (1761-1843). Ölgemälde im Wittumspalais Weimar. Die Freundin Schillers, die während Goethes Abwesenheit in Weimar eingetroffen war, um Schiller einzuführen, tritt nun auch in Goethes Gesichtskreis. Obwohl dem Herderischen Kreise nahestehend, später Jean Paul verbunden, stand die seltsame schwergeprüfte Frau auch mit Goethe in freundschaftlichen Beziehungen.
