Description Castor and Pollux (Dioscuri), terracotta Roman oil lamp 1st cent. AD, Staatliche Antikensammlungen, Munich (8957172929). Castor and Pollux (Dioscuri), sons of Zeus and Leda are depicted here. Their helmets crowned by a star suggest their identification with the Constellation Gemini. Moreover, Castor and Pollux, according to this iconography, are represented as protectors of sailors.
