English: Image of Durga as the goddess Kwan Yin in a Chinese temple in Surabaya (note: The temple is probably Hok An Kiong Chinese Temple, Jalan Coklat, since precisely the same sculpture - photographically compared in detail - with precisely the same portions gold-painted - was seen there in December 2012 beneath the Buddha of the main (or rear) altar.) (note2: The visual style is Indian, not Chinese. The material choice is also Indian. Indians identify 'Kwan Yin' (which is now guanyin in modern Mandarin pinyin romanization) as 'Avalokitesvara' in Sanskrit. The piece has some similarities to Chola art. It may be very old, and almost certainly predates the Chinese community here.)
