Summary

Description
English: Mass dial or "scratch clock" at Bywell St. Peter, Northumberland. Low on the wall of the south aisle is one of the few scratch clocks in the north of England. It is a sundial set vertically and the gnomon or style in the hole casts a shadow on the scratches which indicate the times of services, daily masses and vespers, and mid-way, the dinner hour.
