Summary
| Description |
English: It is the statue of Our Lady (The Virgin), haloed, raising her eyes to the sky, joining her hands in prayer. This statue of the Immaculate Conception located inside the 'Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul Church' in Guise was undoubtedly delivered in 1932, or at the latest in 1933, created by the Valencian sculptor Alfred-Alphonse Bottiau (1889-1951). This figure of the Immaculate Conception is very close to the statue of 'Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows' executed in 1935, and is one of the 'Two statues of Guise' offering the example of a very classical Art Deco, which is not without evoking the so-called Return to Order style. The two statues are administered by the Hauts-de-France Regional Council - Cultural Heritage Inventory Service. |
