Description
Una vasija de barro rojo, racimo de uvas, un pájaro muerto y una caracola. El pájaro representado es un jilguero. Esta pequeña tabla, desde su ingreso en el museo, estuvo considerada obra de escuela flamenca del s iglo XVII. Pérez Sánchez, en el catálogo de la exposición Antonio de Pereda (1611-1678) y la pintura madrileña de su tiempo (1978), se la atribuyó a Espinosa. Jordan, en Spanish still life in the Golden Age: 1600-1650 (1985), ha identificado esta pintura con aquella que figura en el inventario de don Gaspar Méndez de Haro y Guzmán, marqués de Heliche, realizado en 1651 y descrito como "un frutero de Juan despinosa pintada en tabla con un barro y un racimo de uvas y un gilguero muerto". En algún momento debió de pasar a la Colección Real, desde donde llegó al Prado en 1848, procedente del Palacio de Aranjuez.
