Summary

Description
English: 8-N-1 asynchronous serial communication of two bytes. Each 8-bit byte is preceded by a start bit and succeeded by a stop bit for framing purposes. Thus, each byte requires ten bits for transmission. Even though MIDI's 31,250 baud rate corresponds to 31.25 kbit/s, MIDI's net bit rate is only 25 kbit/s, since only 8/10 of transmitted bits contain MIDI information.]]
