Summary

Description

The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911. 1955 saw a new Chevrolet, same wheelbase, but longer, lower and wider with a new chassis and wrap around windshield. The 1957 Chevrolet was last of the popular Tri-five Chevys. For 1957, the grille got a large horizontal chrome bar and twin spears set in the hood. Down the back, the tail fins were more pronounced and the tail lights more elaborate. Again, available in three models; The base 150 (single chrome side strip); 2 and 4 door Sedans and 2 door Wagon. The mid spec 210 (single chrome strip doubled up at the rear forming a wedge shape, with two tone cars, this wedge was a contrasting colour, along with the roof); 2 door Hardtop Sport Coupe, Sedan, Del Ray Coupe (better interior) and Wagon, 4 door Sedan and Wagon. The top Bel Air (same side chrome as the 210 but a ribbed aluminium insert within the wedge); 2 door Convertible, Hardtop Sport Coupe, Sedan, Nomad Hardtop Wagon, 4 door Sedan, Hardtop and Wagon. The C1 Corvette Sports car was also available in 1957. Chevrolets were also produced in Australia by General Motors using modified American bodies from 1926-68.

Engine; 140hp 235 cu in 6 cyl, 162hp 265 cu in V8 and 185, 220, 270 or 283hp 283 cu in V8 (283hp was fuel injected)
