中文：這批相片為台灣新生報記者於1964年12月9日拍攝，主題為日本前首相岸信介參觀國立歷史博物館。岸信介此次訪臺主要目的是參加中日合作策進委員會第九次會議。他參觀史博館後表示特別欣賞商周時代的銅器和中國歷代書法，並讚賞政府對歷史文化的妥善保存與珍藏，使他看到了完整的中華民族文化。
國立歷史博物館成立於1955年12月4日，當時名為國立歷史文物美術館，1957年改為現名，是1949年政府遷臺後開辦的第一所公共博物館，具有首創及國家級的地位。其建築前身是日治時期臺灣總督府殖產局的商品陳列館，於1958年開始進行館舍改建，增建陳列室及畫廊。史博館建物設計採取中國宮殿式建築，和臺灣省立博物館（日治時代的臺灣總督府博物館，今國立臺灣博物館）的西式建築風格形成強烈對比。 史博館建館初期主要展覽原河南博物館文物，博物館透過展示中國文物型塑人民對中國歷史及文化的認同，而這些中國文物也象徵著中華民國的正統地位。事實上，1965年開幕的故宮博物院也是這種思維下的產物。史博館是故宮博物院開幕前臺北唯一一座以中國歷史為主題的博物館，因此史博館也成為文化外交的重要推手，包含接待外國賓客，或者與世界各地博物館進行文物交換展覽等。 |
