First draft done.[edit]

@Kpalion and Martin of Sheffield: first draft is done. Couple of things to look at and notes:

  • Do you want any of the labels linked? If so to what?
  • I intentionally did away with the "unit" parameters. MUCH easier to just require the use of {{convert}} from the start.
  • I only added 1 width, height, weight, volume. That can be changed but we need to discuss how to lay that part out.
  • Think about whether there are any bells that would have other infoboxes embedded in them. For example, any bells that are a {{Infobox UNESCO World Heritage Site}}?

Take a look, let me know your thoughts. I setup a testcase at Template:Infobox bell/testcases that you can build on. Make a few and see what needs more work. --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:44, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In general I'd agree about using {{convert}} in the units, but I suggest you also need to allow for the use of {{long ton}} which supports the traditional (and very much still in use) system used in the UK. For instance "Big Ben" is 13 long tons 10 cwt 3 qr 15 lb (30,339 lb or 13.762 t). I've added the option to the template documentation, no changes to the template itself should be required. @Martin of Sheffield: didn't even know that was a thing... lol. Thanks for adding! --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:22, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As a test case I've added in Big Ben's weight according to the CCBR in long tons. BTW, be wary of short tons, AFAIK they are only used in the US, the rest of the world uses [long] tons or tonnes. BB is 13.762 tonnes (15.170 short tons). Regards, Martin of Sheffield (talk) 17:42, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Kpalion: any thoughts? --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:05, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Zackmann08, sorry for not responding earlier. I think it looks great! I only have one suggestion: would you be able to allow the template to use <mapframe> maps by default, like Infobox building does? — Kpalion(talk) 16:22, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Kpalion: if no |image_map= or |pushpin_map= is provided, then the mapframe will attempt to load. It relies on there being Wikidata coordinates for the page in question though. --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 20:51, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's perfect! Thank you, Zackmann08. — Kpalion(talk) 23:58, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
