Because with it, anonymous users no longer have their IP address
visible (and can't be banned by non-deities). If that's what is
wanted, then that is what the policy should be, and the software
modified accordingly.
As I understand the process, by choosing a user name, he is no longer
anonymous. This chosen name should function in the same way as any
other chosen name. Unless this name has some hidden effect on the
operation of the software, the name may be a little weird, but not
offensive.
