I just discovered your wonderful script, which performs a task I do many times every day when cleaning up Special:WantedCategories. (A significant proportion of the non-existent categories are on drafts).

However, I have recently taken to using a longer edit summary, to clarify exactly why I am doing this: {{tq|Please disable the categories on this page while it is still a draft, per WP:DRAFTNOCAT/WP:USERNOCAT. The easiest way to do this is by converting them to links, by adding a colon: "[[Category:" → "[[:Category:"}}.

When I used shorter edit summaries, editor didn't understand why the cats were converted to links, so now that we can use verbose edit summaries, this seemed helpful. I now get no questions about why I did this.

So I forked the script to User:BrownHairedGirl/Draft no cat.js solely to add that longer edit summary. Would you like to consider adding this, or something like it, to the original script?

Suggestion to use Template:Draft categories??

Thanks for the useful script. Might be worth adapting it to use {{Draft categories}} which disables categories in a way that clearly tells bots what needs to be restored when a draft moves to mainspace? Le Deluge (talk) 21:36, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
