Comments[edit]

I would like to ask the users who have added the reference to Boondock Saints to the article, not to do so. The factoid that a movie character has a particular tattoo is not relevant to an article about a Roman goddess. If you feel it must be on wikipedia, add it to the disambiguation page or add it to the Boondock Saints article. But please do not add it to this article. so what if there is a boondock saints reference? its not a page about a roman goddess, its a page about the word veritas, and its different meanings. if it was a dictionary, yah, probably not necessary. but in an encyclopedia, it should be all enclusive, yah? look up encyclopedia, maybe itll help you understand the purpose. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.171.240.68 (talkcontribs)

Wikipedia is not meant to be all-inclusive, because Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. What matters is whether something is relevant to a subject. Trivial factoids are not relevant, and therefore shouldn't be included. Aecis Appleknocker Flophouse 20:40, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should there not be section titled: In Popculture? So there can be a list of references to veritas in films and such? IvyAmethyst (talkcontribs) 07:17, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Veritas - Aéquitas[edit]

I think that the philosophy behind the use of these words: Veritas and Aéquitas or Aequitas and the use of the coins on the eyes of the dead have a perfect relevance to the Wiki pages and should be included. As in The Matrix Series there are several references through out the film to suggest a philosophical work of art. Particularly to the references of Greek or Roman mythology between the two characters. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DNCamper (talkcontribs) 1 November 21:07.

Standard practice is: In the Boondock Saints, mention, under trivia, that the characters have tattoos. The names of the tattoos will link back to this article. There is no reason for this article to mention a very minor part of a movie. If it was a lyric in a Beatles song, or some other incredibly pervasive bit of pop culture, then sure, it should definitely be mentioned here. But considering it's barely in the Boondock Saints, mentioning it in this article does nothing to further explain Veritas. Sir Isaac Lime 21:22, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

pronounced[edit]

Does anyone know how Veritas is pronounced? This is a debate that I am having with myself as well as my supervisor? Thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.208.139.253 (talk) 19:23, 8 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Transcribing to English would probably yield something like veh-ree-tahs. Plus replacing the English "r" with a rolling "r" (more like an "l") like in Spanish or Japanese (or Latin, for that matter :P ). 128.131.213.22 (talk) 12:32, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, in Classical Latin, you would pronounce the V as you would a W: "Wear - eet - ahss". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.45.41.129 (talk) 03:09, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Verizon?[edit]

Should Verizon be mentioned (veritas+horizon) ? soldierx40k 04:37, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I always thought Verizon was to vertical what horizon is to horizontal.  But, after reading what you wrote, I did a modicum of research and discovered that you were correct.  Source  allixpeeke (talk) 12:28, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Weritas[edit]

Should there be a little parenthetical pointing out that (if i remember correctly) it's pronounced with a w, like all latin v's? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.191.87.42 (talk) 01:15, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
