We found a book apparently owned by a member of the Crawford's crew during her WWII service. It is a hardcover copy of 'Skin and Bones' by Thorne Smith, inscribed "F.L. Koons

Y 1/C
U.S.S.
Crawford"

It was fascinating to read this article about the Crawford, and now we're curious about this crew member. Clocksurfer (talk) 19:05, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Koons would have been a yeoman first class (at least at the time he inscribed the book) and would have likely been the ship's yeoman. His duties would have been administrative and he would have had daily contact with the ship's executive officer. Cuprum17 (talk) 15:04, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
