Intro currently has "(pronounced /seɪkjʊərɨteɪ/ [stress unknown],[1] from French sécurité)," but there is no stress on individual syllables en français - the French words stress each syllable equally. --66.102.80.212 (talk) 08:08, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see it has now been tagged "fix:where's the stress?" This is a good question. My memory is that in radio procedure, the recommendation is to stress each syllable equally, for clarity, but I cannot at the moment find any reference to back that up. I think that modern-day instructional material for members of the public tries to keep everything as simple as possible: it would be good enough if the public could remember, first to use a radio rather than a mobile phone, then which type of call to make, and to identify themselves, their position etc, rather than telling them how to stress a word. I don't think the comment above is quite right; in French you would stress the last syllable, but as a radio pro-word I'm sure you're meant to try to keep the stress, emphasis and syllable length equal.
