Dr. Richard Kimble aka Dr. Sam Sheppard[edit]

The Fugitive was based on the true story of Dr. Sam Sheppard. Convicted in Ohio of murdering his wife, Marilyn. He spent a number of years in prison. Subsequently retried and exonerated. Went on to work as a professional wrestler, "The Killer." Died in 1970.

His son attempted to bring a lawsuit for the wrongful imprisonment of his father but the Ohio Supreme Court declined to rehear the case after the Appellate Court rejected the claim on the basis that the wrongful imprisonment claim died with the wrongfully imprisoned inmate.

So did I think, but the page on Sam Sheppard says
Many believe that the television series, The Fugitive, and the later motion picture of the same name were loosely based on Sheppard's story, though this has always been denied by their creators. If what I quoted is true, it may be really based, we just don't have evidence. A statement like that could be added to this page, if it doesn't get merged (the page on the show already mentions Sam Sheppard). Nuno J. Silva (talk) 09:55, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
