Similarities to original paper?[edit]

I'm not super familiar with the Wikipedia policies on this, but it seems that a large part of the procedure and explanation is taken directly from the source paper. Is this okay/acceptable? I realize that there are not really any other sources for this information other than the original research paper... ChunyangD (talk) 06:22, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Error[edit]

In the main formula: |x>=Sum_{i} \bet_{i} (lambda_{j})^(-1) |u_{j}> index i and j are confused! Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.76.6.79 (talk) 04:38, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Quantum algorithm for linear systems of equationsHHL Algorithm – This article is currently has a generic title: per WP:CRITERIA, I think it would be more concise and precise to title it HHL Algorithm. My reasons are thus:

  1. The current title is long: HHL Algorithm is much shorter
  2. The current title is potentially ambiguous: a new quantum algorithm for solving linear systems of equations may be developed in the future
  3. The algorithm is already referred to as "HHL" in the Quantum information navbox at the bottom of the page

  • Support. I'm not an expert in this subject, but I have only seen this algorithm referred to as the HHL algorithm in the literature. So Wikipedia:COMMONNAME may be another justification. The move seems reasonable to me. Mgnbar (talk) 11:11, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support due to evident genericity and possible ambiguity. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 16:22, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support "HHL algorithm" is also used in standard reviews of the field, e.g., npj QI, RMP.--Qcomp (talk) 22:20, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. I also agree the page should be renamed. Luca (talk)

Minor title correct[edit]

I agree with the new title but per WP:MOS, it should read HHL algorithm, in accordance with other "algorithm" articles. If nobody disagrees I will be making this correction tomorrow.--ReyHahn (talk) 11:45, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
