Oppose. You are just suggesting to move the article on 11:57 and you moved it several minutes later without reaching a consensus. Opening a rename suggestion tells us that you want to move the article but you are also seeking community agreement. In this case, nobody has responded yet but you moved the page with nobody telling yes.
As for the name, I again oppose it. As what the article says, it is the Japanese working title, and the English translation of Best Wishes so far. It is not equivalent to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl sub-seasons like Sinnoh League Victors, that needs distinction from the original Diamond and Pearl series, mainly because Best Wishes is the first season of the Black and White series; and second, perhaps my greatest opposition reason is that the Japanese title says nothing about "Black and White", so it isn't agreeable that the show's name would contain Black and White. In any other means, the show is not currently airing, so if ever "Black and White" will be included on the title then we can easily move it to your suggested title.--JL 09 q?c 12:24, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - There was no "Red and Blue" season. There was no "Gold and Silver" season. There was no "Ruby and Sapphire" season. There have been leaks (such as the conceptual storyboard), but nothing that we can actually cite as of yet. I doubt it will be too long until the information is officially announced though; probably two or three weeks at the most, given how close the series is to debuting. "Iris"[edit]

Where has it been stated that the female character named "アイリス" is named "Iris" in the English alphabet? The official website only uses the Japanese name. It is considered a violation of original research policies to assume that the name will be parsed into the English alphabet as "Iris". For all we know, it could just be the katakana reading of 愛麗子, 愛梨子, and 愛里酢, all of which are "Airisu".—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 02:33, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Ai" is a long "i" and "su" is "s". Hence, "Airisu" -> "Iris". The same usage (using "consonant + u" for "consonant" in foreign loanwords) is present in many other Pokémon and non-Pokémon examples.
And none of http://name-meanings.com, http://behindthename.com, http://meaning-of-names.com, http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com, etc. have any entries for "Airisu". Just because "アイリス" can be read as the word iris does not always mean it does. There is nothing to support that the name a loanword at this point in time. As I said above, "Airisu" is a Japanese name. Just because it does not appear in any of the English websites you looked on, does not mean that Airisu (愛麗子), Airisu (愛梨子), and Airisu (愛里酢) are not valid names in Japanese. Unless you can provide an official statement from the Pokémon anime website, or any other official website affiliated with the airing of the "Best Wishes!" anime do not put "Iris" as the character's name on this article or any other article as doing so is original research.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:07, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This online dictionary features all three of those names. Type in "Airisu" in the Keyword box, then select "Japanese names (ENAMDICT)" from the drop down menu and then click "Search". In addition, the name "Iris" does come up if you select "Search using romanized Japanese" but that is because it is a katakana name, and those are listed first in this man's dictionary. Automatically assuming that these four katakana are meant to be read as "Iris" is most definitely WP:OR, even if you do know how the Japanese treat English words in katakana. And even though you've cited WT:MOS-JA#RfC_on_the_need_for_romaji_with_English_loanwords, that particular discussion is still ongoing and has no bearing on this because there is no way that you can be 100% sure that the name is in fact an English one because the names of the characters in the anime have always been parsed as katakana rather than as kanji. Ash's character in Japan has always been referred to as "サトシ" and never as one of the several hundred possible kanji variations. The same goes for Misty (カスミ), Brock (タケシ), Tracey (ケンジ), May (ハルカ), Max (マサト), and Dawn (ヒカリ). Do you have a reliable source to say that in this very instance, the katakana アイリス when referring to the fictional character to appear in the upcoming Pokémon anime subtitled "Best Wishes" are intended to be read as "Iris"? I already stated that the hiragana and katakana names come first in his dictionary. If you look up any other name, the katakana spelling will be before all of the kanji spellings. I generally disagree, I think, with Ryulong on romanization issues, but I think he's right on this one. The Best Wishes season is set in a fictional world where the characters have names that are not Japanese. The Gym Leaders/Elite Four/Professors/whatnot were always named after plants. Since there is no indication the English dub will use "Iris" or "Dent", romanizations should be excluded from the article until English names are confirmed. As for "Pokémon" and "Pocket Monsters", I moved it to "Pocket Monsters Best Wishes" and Ryulong reverted it due to me having not discussed this. As in the thirteenth movie article, the title should not include Pokémon until the series' dub title is confirmed.

Formality[edit]

I am posting this here because frankly 65.188.138.241 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) is not listening and it'd be better to get a larger input on this.

Serebii's names for these characters and places need to be forbidden from use because they do not romanize or translate the names of items properly. "Dento", "Poddo", "Koon", and "Sanyou" should not be used on this or any other page because "Dento", "Poddo", "Koon", and "Sanyou" are merely the direct katakana to English alphabet romanization that Serebii uses and is not proper for writing about the content on Wikipedia (see WP:MOS-JA). If anything, "Koon" should be "Kōn", but that shouldn't be used as I will be describing in the next paragraph.

Secondly, as characters inIsshu sems to having more Englsh names than in the past, "Airisu", "Dento", "Poddo", "Koon", "Aroe", "Shuutii", etc., should be translated into "Iris", "Dent", "Pod", "Corn", "Aloe", "Shooty", etc., unless there is no Western version of that name (e.g. "Kamitsure", "Fūro", "Hachiku", "Shaga", "Gīma", etc.). Cilan and airdates[edit]

Serebii, Bulbagarden, Pokebeach, and random twats on YouTube who take the information from the previous three websites and turn it into videos with crappy background music are not reliable sources. Any information on the English names of characters and the airdates of episodes need to come from reliable sources. The fact that people have been hunting down uploads to Cartoon Network's server and discovered two images which I am not linking here does not mean that we can use that information on Wikipedia. Any information needs to be easily backed up, and pointing to a single image which for all we know could change in the next couple of weeks is not a reliable source. If Cartoon Network sets up the B&W website and has all of this information available to the general public, then we can use "Cilan" rather than "Dent" across Wikipedia. And random airdates stated in internal e-mails that random people in the fan community have access too are also not allowed. English Names[edit]

They are only to be changed to English if 1 of 2 criteria are met.
  1. The episode was aired in English.
  2. You are an affiliate or work for The Pokemon Company International and are able to obtain information about the episodes not released yet.

No, the article does not say it has been been cancelled. The season has came to its conclusion and the article will get split, once we have the title of the 15th season. The title of the upcoming season has been potentially revealed along with the opening song but it is yet to be confirmed. Pocket Monsters: Best Wishes was aired in September 23, 2010 in Japan. You now, Pokémon: Black and White (USA Version 2011-2012) it's the Season 14 aired in United States in February 12, 2011 until January 7, 2012 aired in Cartoon Network.
