Not software compatible?[edit]
I thought the 010 was backward compatible with all 68K software, but the article says:
- The 68010 was not 100% software compatible with the 68000. The most problematic difference was the exception stack frame.
Can someone elaborate on this in the article? Tempshill 21:01, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it's true. Another incompatibility is that MOVE from SR is priviledged on the 68010, but wasn't on the 68000. Mirror Vax 22:26, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

It should be added to the article that the 68010 has an improved microcode over the 68000. This alters the timing of some instructions, which is also another source of minor incompatibilities with the 68000.Ijor 22:32, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Should Motorola 68012 be merged into here?[edit]
This page doesn't refer to the Motorola 68012, so somebody reading this page might not know that it existed.
There's not a lot on that page, given that the 68012 appears to be a 68010 with more address bits taken off chip, giving it a 31-bit external address space, and either a read-modify-write signal being added to the core or, if it was already there, being given a pin; it could probably be made a section of this page.
