The commented description[edit]

Although the comment requested that the descriptive text be kept, it is not something that belongs on a dab page and so I deleted it. Here is what was deleted, in case it is needed:

<!--- Madras refers to many of the things listed below, but most often, it refers to Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu state and India's fourth largest metropolitan city. The 367-year-old Madras city is a large commercial and industrial centre, and is known for its cultural heritage and temple architecture. The city is the automobile capital of India, and a stronghold in the IT, ITES and the Medical Tourism sectors. It also houses one of the longest beaches in the world, the Marina Beach and hosts India's only ATP tennis event, the Chennai Open. Although Madras was renamed to Chennai, the old name Madras is still used widely. See the article on Chennai for more information. --> <!-- SAVE the above description. Summarize it further if needed, but do not scrap it.-->

I imagine most of this is already covered on the Chennai page. If not, anyone is welcome to add it, or I will when I have a chance to get back to it. Auntof6 (talk) 06:34, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First link to Chennai, perhaps?[edit]

First line of this disambiguation article links to the title, Madras, which means a redirect. Shouldn't it link straight to Chennai instead? Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:01, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not necessarily. See WP:MOSDAB#Linking to a primary topic. This seems more analogous to the Danzig/Gdansk example than the Mozart example. olderwiser 17:41, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
