cultural folklore?[edit]

"The sweet is part of Australian and New Zealand cultural folklore" I'm Australian. This is not part of our folklore. Not sure about NZ. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.226.73.119 (talk) 04:47, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, not part of ours either. Maybe they meant an iconic part of our local cultures? Like Kiwiana and whatever the Australian equivalent of that is?121.73.221.187 (talk) 20:36, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just having a look I can find references to them being considered part of Kiwiana, including a book entitled From Jandals to Jaffas - The best of Kiwiana, and there's a reference to them being a feature of Australiana in this book here. I propose 1. 'folklore' should be removed as uncited, and 2. a reference to their place in Kiwiana and Australiana inserted.219.88.68.195 (talk) 22:33, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Have now done the above.219.88.68.195 (talk) 05:23, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
"Rolling Jaffas down the aisles" is certainly part of the Aussie cultural folklore. Added with references. - 203.123.92.8 (talk) 12:59, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orange coloured?[edit]

I'm in the UK, and was recently sent a (first!) bag of Allen's Jaffas. I would most definitely call them red, not orange. Most of the photos I can find on Google etc show them as more reddish than orangey, too. Loganberry (Talk) 01:46, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, they are red not orange. I am wondering about the "... name derives from the Jaffa orange" claim. Any substantiation? It seems a baseless and dubious claim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.25.1.208 (talk) 04:42, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article Text Quality?[edit]

"It is also a slightly derogatory term used in New Zealand to describe Aucklanders. As there are lots of people living in this city, it has the largest population in New Zealand.J-ust A-nother F-***ing A-ucklander. This view is held by people not in the city. See Jafa."
Logically, people living in Auckland wouldn't think of themselves in a derogatory manner?
At any rate, that doesn't make a lot of sense. The article seems to go off towards the end into rambling.

The Jafa slang term is unrelated to the content of this article, so I have moved the link to a hatnote. Some link is appropriate, because the slang term is sometimes given as Jaffa with two 'f's.-gadfium 19:52, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

'Pieces'?[edit]

The caption under the picture currently reads 'Three pieces of Jaffas confectionery', -would one call individual Jaffas 'pieces' though? Seems strange, surely just 'Three Jaffas' would be more correct?219.88.68.195 (talk) 22:08, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
