Why? --romanm (talk) 22:14, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
It was the first Translation of the week victim. Nadavspi | talk 22:46, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Oh, I see. So the goal is to translate the first paragraph of this article, not the whole article. --romanm (talk) 23:15, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Well, when this was started, it only had that first paragraph. It was only expanded afterwards. Nadavspi | talk 23:29, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Reason for move[edit]

I moved page from Gangnihessou to Do-Aklin. This was done even though Gangnihessou was the first Translation of the week Wikipedia article. I regret having to move it from such an important wiki-historical page, but think Do-Aklin is right. The reasons for the move is that 1. There are three common names for the subject: Dogbari, Do-Aklin, and Gangnihessou. Of these, Do-Aklin is used in the most reliable sources about the person, Gangnihessou is used by works focusing on artistic representations of the person (who is depicted as a gangnihessou bird). Evidence: A. Monroe uses "Dogbari", Google Books hits=112 (lots of false hits), Jstor=2. B. and Rainer use Gangnihessou and Araujo does too, But, both of these are talking about artistic representations of the leader and not specifically the person. Google Books hits=30. Jstor=1. C. Halcrow uses Do-Aklin, so do Shillington, and Falola, Google Book hits=273. Jstor=3 (1 English). Conclusion: Do-Aklin is best name for the subject, the fact that the two reputable sources that use Gangnihessou are both talking about art representations leads me to believe that the multiple reputable sources using Do-Aklin are better for naming the article.
