Portal:Free software: Cygnus is now the selected article[edit]

Just to let you know. The purpose of selecting an article is both to point readers to the article and to highlight it to potential contributors. It will remain on the portal for a week or so. The previous selected article was QTFairUse, the controversial software for bypassing Digital Restrictions Management.

For other interesting free software articles, you can take a look at the archive of PFs selectees. --Gronky 21:12, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Time moved on and the new selectee is Darwin (operating system) - the free software base of Apple's proprietary software operating system. --Gronky 16:32, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Company website. New company?[edit]

There is a website at http://www.cygnus-solutions.com/, but is it the same company that the article talks about? Or is it a new company that has taken over the URL? The company deals with hardware and software, but it doesn't seem to be interested in open source. --HelgeStenstrom (talk) 12:05, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Totally different. Seems to me like borderline trademark violation, but Red Hat doesn't use the Cygnus name anymore, and it's even possible that these guys got permission from RH to reuse. Stan (talk) 09:11, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
