Seems to have been some vandalism here - reversion needed.

No phoenician sites in the surroundings, sorry.

There is instead "Li Muri", an archaeological area of Nuragici People in Arzachena territory. Arzachena is the Council in which territory Costa Smeralda is, but this territory is relevantly wide, and Li Muri and Porto Cervo are not exactly bordering... Besides, Li Muri wasn't a town.

The area of Costa Smeralda was effectively savage in the sense that the coast could not be reached due to the amount of "macchia mediterranea" and rocks that for hundreds of meters (km, in some cases) were around it. During WWII an air force observation point had to be built on that part of the coast. It took 13 days to make a rough 1,5 km road straight to the beach.

What you can see today is not exactly what could be seen at that time.

Costa Smeralda was not even known by fishermen or sailors, as its waters are quite dangerous. This is also one of the reasons why there aren't any phoenician sites or towns there.

It is a place for outstanding tourism (VIPs).

Name of the Prince (Karim) has beed re-added, as Aga Khan is a religious title (quite similar to Imam) and represents more the family than the individual.

smeralda[edit]

All my Italian dictionaries say that the adjective "smeraldo" is invariant. So why isn't this called "Costa Smeraldo"? SemperBlotto (talk) 10:39, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Map[edit]

A map position should be shown on the top right, similar to other wikipedia articles about areas. 2A02:8388:1641:4700:BE5F:F4FF:FECD:7CB2 (talk) 23:53, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
