Root Township is one of twelve townships in Adams County, Indiana.[2] As of the 2020 census, its population was 6,033,[1] up from 4,443 at the 2010 census.[3]

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 35.57 square miles (92.1 km2), of which 35.44 square miles (91.8 km2) (or 99.63%) is land and 0.12 square miles (0.31 km2) (or 0.34%) is water.[4]
