Crop for head shot?[edit]

Since this photo is used primarily to portray Dr. Erdős in a context where one would normally choose a head shot, I suggest that this photograph be cropped to achieve that end. It would eliminate a lot of extraneous features (carpet, chair, mirror, jacket, etc.) and focus on the subject. It would also fit info boxes better. One could include a link to the current version of the image, if anyone was unpleasantly surprised by the result. User:HopsonRoad 04:28, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A headshot derived from this picture exists already under https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Erdos_head_budapest_fall_1992.jpg . Actually it has essentially been around as long as this picture. You are free to create another headshot under the given license of course, but this image (on commons) should stay as it is and not be replaced by a headshot. The question whether various articles currently using this image should use the headshot instead, is matter that can't be decided here, but it is up to editors maintaining those affected articles. It is impossible to tell whether those editors picked the large picture over the headshot by intention back then or whether they simply weren't aware that a headshot was available as well.--Kmhkmh (talk) 02:46, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
