If you look closely, the emperor in this painting does not look like the Xuande Emperor because it is not painted during the Xuande Era. It is actually the painting of the Jiajing Emperor or Ming Shih-Tsung (1522-1566) according to the Palace Museum where this painting is currently housed.

Not Xuande, but Jiajing[edit]
