A small detail[edit]

Is the illustration of the male correct?

D. R. Johnson, Centre for Human Biology, Leeds University, had this to say:

The other small problem, the penis, is described in it's [sic] erect position, so that its dorsal surface faces anteriorly and superiorly when detumescent.[1]

Surely this implies that the penis should be shown erect rather than flaccid?

Yes, this is a serious question. yoyo (talk) 14:38, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm about to mention this question on the talk page for Anatomical terminology. yoyo (talk) 14:50, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Dorsal side of the penis arguably originated, from the more obvious orientation in quadrepedal males, even when detumescent. Switching the orientation just for homo would be confusing.Klbrain (talk) 11:31, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
