Summary

Description

The church dates from the twelfth century onwards, and consists of nave with north and south aisles and clerestory, western tower, chancel, and north porch. There is also an organ chamber and vestry.

The tower is of three stages with an embattled parapet. It cuts into half of the western bays of the arcades. It once had a spire but this was removed in the nineteenth century as it was unsafe. The tower dates from the late fourteenth century and has five bells.

The nave is of three bays, with the south arcade dating from the mid-twelfth century, having rounded arches with zigzag decoration. The piers are round with square bases. The north arcade is slightly later. The original church had no aisles, and the south aisle was added around 1140, and the north aisle around 1200. The chancel arch is of a similar age. The chancel was rebuilt in 1875, and the south aisle restored in 1885 when an existing south porch was removed. The north porch was then added.

There is a plain octagonal font, probably dating from the 12-13th century.

The church has a small two manual organ from 1973.

There are several stained glass windows, including two fourteenth century roundels in the vestry which is usually locked.
