Description
English: Luciano Campisi's grave monument to the Italian poet and patriot Goffredo Mameli (1827-1849), at the Monumental cemetery "Campo Verano" in Rome. The grave was built in 1891 and its inscription, written by Giuseppe Mazzini, reads: "Both Lyre [as symbol of poetry] and Sword [as symbol of bravery in battle] will remain, as the fair symbol of His life, on the stone We will raise in His honour one day in the cemetery of the Nation's Martyrs in Rome"
Italiano: La tomba del poeta e patriota italiano Goffredo Mameli (1827-1849) al Cimitero Comunale Monumentale del Verano a Roma. L'opera scultoria, di Luciano Campisi, fu realizzata nel 1891 e reca un'iscrizione di Giuseppe Mazzini: «E lira e spada staranno giusto simbolo della sua vita sulla pietra che un dì gli ergeremo in Roma nel camposanto dei Martiri della Nazione»
