Summary

Description
English: Comparison of apertures in different common typefaces.

At top is Corbel, which has very open apertures: this is especially visible in the 'a' and 's' and also in the 'e' and '9' (compare with 8).

Next is Helvetica, with more closed apertures. Notice the 'folded-up' appearance of the top of the 'a' and 'e'.

At bottom is Haettenschweiler, a thick and highly condensed design with very closed apertures. The 'e' and 's' and 8 and 9 are almost indistinguishable at small size.

All are shown in their bold weight apart from Haettenschweiler, which has only one style.
