1.Protosinaítico también conocido como proto-cananeo se refiere a unas inscripciones encontradas en la Península del Sinaí. Esta península fue conquistada por Egipto. La escritura sinaítica evolucionó a partir de jeroglíficos egipcios, pero la usaban para escribir una lengua semita, no egipcia.

2.Los fenicios fueron el pueblo que inventó la escritura alfabética. La escritura protosinaítica del Siglo XIX a. C. no es precedente del alfabeto fenicio (XVII-XVI a.C.), sino un desarrollo paralelo. Ver: alfabeto, alfabeto griego, alfabeto latino, y biblioteca.
