Summary

Description
English: The church of St Michael and All Angels and Holy Cross. The church of St Michael and All Saints and Holy Cross > 1742397 - 1742423 stands isolated, approximately one kilometre to the north-east of the village of Wormegay > 1742337 on the northern edge of Church Wood, beside an unsurfaced farm track that serves as a public bridleway. The site is surrounded by Roman and Saxon remains. The church - built from carstone and once belonging to the Augustinian priory down by the River Nar - was all but rebuilt in the 1890s. The tower dates from the late 14th century but not much dating from medieval times has survived the extensive restoration. The baptismal font > 1742433 is C15 and two image niches retaining medieval paint work > 1742427 can be seen in the east wall.
