日本語: 庄内砂丘
山形県北西部の日本海岸にある砂丘で、鶴岡市湯野浜から酒田市を経て飽海郡遊佐町吹浦(ふくらまで約35kmに及び、日本一長い砂丘である。 最大幅は約3kmで北へ行くにつれて狭くなっていく。面積は55.44平方kmの日本有数の砂丘で、2～3列の砂丘列からなり、東（内陸）側のものが最も大きい。最高点は 100m余で、砂丘としては日本有数の高さである。 黒色砂層を挟み、下部の古砂丘と上部の新砂丘が重合した構造をもつ。 砂防林としてクロマツなどの植林が行われ、砂丘列間の低地は地下水灌漑による耕地化も進み、現在はメロンやスイカ、チューリップ等が栽培される。 |
