Description
English: South Eastern and Chatham Railway official photograph of Maunsell N1 prototypoe No. 822, taken at Ashford works in 1922. Image inherited by the Southern Railway (UK) upon Grouping in 1923, and as such, all copyright regarding official documents of the Southern Railway (UK) and its predecessors was passed on to British Railways (a former UK Government institution) upon nationalisation in 1948. Therefore, I submit the image in terms of fair use in the view that, to the best of my knowledge, the copyright has expired under the 50 year rule regarding British Government Archives. For further information, see: Dendy Marshall, C. F. and Kidner, Robert: History of the Southern Railway (Hinckley: Ian Allan, 1963).
