Description
English: A lead steelyard weight of probable Roman date. The weight of this piece is roughly equivalent to three quarters of a Roman pound. The crudely made weight is roughly flattend bi-conical and has uneven sides. Extending from the centre of the upper surface is a loop of metal, possibly copper-alloy; iron corrosion can be seen on the underside of the weight. The object measures 42.7mm in diameter and 43.5mm high. It weighs 265.23g.
