English: Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith from 1953. Is is the official state car of Brasil for the use of the head of state in certain ceremonies. Of the 3 convertibles made in 1953 this is the only one in existence.
Português: Carro oficial para solenidades da Presidência da República do Brasil, um Rolls Royce Wraith Cabriolet 1953. é presença obrigatória nos desfiles do dia 7 de setembro. Também usado nas posses de presidentes e algumas visitas de Estado, o carro é um dos destaques das comemorações do Dia da Independência desde Getúlio Vargas.
Foi utilizado pela primeira vez em cerimônia pública no dia 1° de maio de 1953, pelo presidente Getúlio Vargas, durante as festividades do Dia do Trabalho, em Volta Redonda (RJ). a própria Presidência da República, através de oficio à Rolls Royce Ltd, em Londres, encomendou dois veículos, um fechado e outro conversível com adaptações especiais. Os veículos foram registrados em nome do presidente Getúlio Vargas, daí veio o boato que os veículos foram doados a Getúlio, e que este usaria os veículos de forma oficial e ao final do mandato faria doação a Presidência da República. Getúlio comete suicídio antes do fim do mandato presidencial, assim os veículos permaneceram em seu nome até 1957, onde os herdeiros que estavam na justiça exigindo a entrega dos dois carros, fizeram um acordo onde receberiam o Rolls Royce fechado e cederiam o conversível como "doação" à Presidência da República. |
