Summary

Description
English: This is a model of the ion energy distribution in a IEC device. It is taken from "A general critique of inertial-electrostatic confinement fusion systems" Rider, 1995 Physics of Plasmas 2 (6): 1853. This model assumes a maxwellian ion population, which is broken into several different sub-groups. First, the ions which do not have enough energy to fuse. Second, the ions at the injection energy. Third, the ions that have so much kinetic energy that they escape the potential well. Supporters have argued that the plasma is non-thermal.
